BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS POSTPONED
The Minnesota State baseball Championships have been postponed until Wednesday. The league said that with rain likely, it would be impossible to finish all three games in one day. League officials will reassess the weather situation today. If the league chooses to postpone the games another day, Target Field is also available Thursday.
- Baldwin-Woodville (Wis.) freshman phenom pitcher Abby Klopp nearly led the Blackhawks to the Division 2 softball title of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association's state tournament Saturday.
USF DONS WINS CHAMPIONSHIP
The USF Dons won the WCC baseball championship in highly entertaining match on Sunday. Three USF pitchers combined to scatter eight hits, with Friday's starter, Kyle Zimmer, coming on in relief in the ninth inning for his first save of the season. The teams were tied for the conference lead following Gonzaga's 7-5 victory Saturday.
"I'm proud of these guys and the way they played on the road," coach Nino Giarratano said. "This team deserved to win and go on to play in regionals. They will represent the WCC well."

MLB RESPOND TO STEINBRENNER
Hank Steinbrenner was reminded by Major League Baseball not to speak about labor-related issues after the Yankees co-chairman commented on the game's revenue sharing this week.
Major League Baseball reached out to the Yankees on Tuesday, one day after Steinbrenner said publicly that the Yankees' payments in revenue sharing and luxury tax would total around $130 million, according to a source.
Steinbrenner said that Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig was in favor of changing the current system.

3 YANKEES IN TOP 100
Baseball America just came out with its Top 100 prospects. Three Red Sox minor leaguers are on the list - one current (maybe former) Sea Dogs player and two future Hadlock Field pitchers.
Shortstop Jose Iglesias, 21, is ranked No. 52. He batted .285 in 57 games for the Sea Dogs last year, a season interrupted when he was hit by a pitch and broke a bone in his right hand.
